The fourth annual Diocese of Oakland Science Fair, hosted by Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School, was held at SJND's Anthony V. Aiello Science Center in Alameda on Feb. 9.
Judging was scheduled from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. in the Kelly Gym, which was open to the public at 10:30 a.m. Hundreds of visitors stopped by to see the exhibits and participate in the fun experiments and labs in the Science Center.
Seventh and eighth grade students from more than 35 Diocesan schools participated in the Science Fair. Local college and university science educators, as well as representatives from the tech industry and the Bay Area's scientific community, served as judges for the competition.
Winners have the opportunity to compete in the Alameda County Science and Engineering Fair or the San Francisco Bay Area Science Fair. Here's a look at the 2013 winners and their projects.
