The third annual Diocese of Oakland Science Fair for middle school students is Saturday, February 25, and will be hosted by Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School at SJND's Anthony V. Aiello Science Center in Alameda.
Seventh and eighth grade students from 44 Diocesan schools are invited to participate. Local college and university science educators, as well as representatives from the tech industry and the Bay Area's scientific community, will serve as judges for the competition.
The winners will have the opportunity to compete in the Alameda County Science and Engineering Fair or the San Francisco Bay Area Science Fair.
The Science Fair competition will include science exhibits and demonstrations throughout the afternoon for students, parents and educators to enjoy.
Each
year, the inaugural Diocese of Oakland Science Fair at SJND sends dozens of middle school students on to the next level of competition at regional science fairs.
More than 500 people attended the Science Fair on SJND's campus last year. At SJND, school officials proposed creation of the event because the high school has top-notch science facilities and wants to encourage science students.
