We invite all who are interested in learning more about Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School to complete our online inquiry form or to call our Office of Admissions at 510-995-9458 to obtain our admissions packet.
2. Visit the SJND Campus
We encourage you to schedule a visit to campus. Prospective students and their families can come to campus during our popular Shadow Day visit program, which begins October 5, 2010, and for our Open House.
Shadow Day visitors have a great opportunity to experience a day in the life of an SJND student. Shadow Day visitors are paired with a host student to experience two classes and a lunch. Parents are encouraged to stay for a discussion about SJND and a tour. Setting up a Shadow Day visit is easy.
Middle school students are also invited to our campus on December 10, 2010, for Middle School Madness to watch our winning Pilot Basketball team in action. Send us your name, phone number and the number of tickets you'll need for the Middle School Madness game by December 1.
3. Submit the Online Application
SJND Online Admission Application
Applications should be submitted electronically by January 7, 2011. A $75 application fee can be submitted online using a credit card during the application process.
Freshman applicants to Saint Joseph Notre Dame may also be considered for one of several Presidential Scholarships offered each year. These scholarships award $10,000 over the course of four years ($2,500 per annual award) to students who demonstrate strong character and extraordinary academic promise through their grades and HSPT scores.
All prospective students are required to submit a completed teacher and principal/counselor recommendation form and a transcript from their current school by February 4, 2011 .
The forms should be given to current school administrators and teachers when you submit your application to SJND.
Students from public schools can obtain a transcript from their school office and submit it to SJND directly.
Incoming freshman students interested in attending Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School must take the High School Placement Test (HSPT). The exam will be offered at SJND on Saturday, January 8, 2010.
Students can take the test at any Diocesan high school and have the option of sending their results to up to three different schools. To be eligible for SJND scholarships and for admission to the Chaminade Academy Honors Program, prospective students completing the exam at another high school must indicate that they would like their results shared with SJND at the time of testing.
The SJND HSPT Prep Course is designed to familiarize 7th and 8th grade students with the format and focus of the HSTP. SJND is committed to offering a high-quality course, in two parts, that helps students with both test-taking strategies and the test subjects.
Cost for the HSPT prep course is $100. Students who are accepted and register for the 2011-12 school year at SJND will receive this course at no cost through a $100 registration fee reduction. Course registration is due by September 17, 2010.
