11/21--The boys Cross Country team qualified for the state tournament at the North Coast Sectional meet today in Hayward. The team placed 5th (last qualifying spot) with a team score of 208 just ahead of Santa Rosa and only 2 points behind 4th place Urban. The team was led by sophomore Nick Ratto (17:07, 20th overall), in his first year of cross country. Next up was freshman Louis Rodigues (34th overall, 17:46)followed by first time runner, a senior and team co-captain Cameron Braband in a time of 17:54. Our final two scoring spots were brothers Michael Mein and Mitchell Mein. Brenden Choi and Sam Levy-Wendt both ran just behind Mitchell and helped get the necessary points to get to state.
On the girl’s side: What was once a promising season turned into survival for the lady Pilots, as injuries to key runners put a state appearance on the shelf until next year. Still all who ran the NCS meet had outstanding finishes. Renee Barbour led the team with a 22:30 finish on the 3 mile hilly course. Danielle McGuinness ran 3 minutes faster this year with a 24:20. Regina Hurley, back from injury, was close behind at 24:45. Finally Alessandra Zambrano ran one of her fastest race of the year with a 27:20.
11/5--The boys Cross Country team finished fourth in the BSAL Championship at Joaquin MIller Park. Nick Ratto (13th) and Cameron Braband (15th) medaled for the Pilots. For the girls, Renee Barbour (3rd) and Danielle McGuinness (13th) medaled in the JV race.
10/26--Pilots golfers Katie Riley and Emily Walters earned spots in the North Coast Sectional qualifying round as they led the team to a third place BSAL finish. Riley and Walters led a strong team backed by Lauren Pond, Leigh Pond, Megan Riley and Christine Doan to a 4-4 record. Coach Victor Quintell is in his fourth year at the helm.
10/22--In the final league meet of the season, the Varsity Boys Cross Country ran well, losing to league leader Albany but defeating Encinal. Lewis Rodrigues and Nick Ratto led the Pilots efforts. Kimberly Avalos took first for the girls team.
10/17--The boys varsity cross country team pulled off an upset in the Mariner Invitational in Hayward, coming in second overall and ahead of top-ranked Redwood Christian. Lewis Rodrigues led the team, coming in 12th overall, followed by Cameron Braband (15th), Michael Mein (17th), Mitchell Mein (24th), Brandon Chai (27th) and Andy Cerio (43rd). The boys team finished sixth overall in frosh-soph race with Sam Levy-Wendt and Brian Aria earning medals. For the girls, Renee Barbour and Danielle McGuinness earned individual medals in the frosh-soph race.
10/15--The boys varsity cross country team took the top five spots and Kimberly Avalos set a new girls course record in a meet against St. Patrick-St. Vincent and Salesian. Cameran Braband, Michael Mein, Michell Mein, Nick Ratto and Lewis Rodriguez led the boys team.
10/8--The Women's Volleyball team lost to Albany at home. After going down 2 sets to 0, the Pilots fought back to take the third set, but Albany won the fourth set and the game. Geena Serles led the team with seven kills and two blocks. Phoebe Grunt had six kills and four blocks. Cassandra Rodriguez added 18 assists and an ace.
10/7—Women’s Tennis lost to St. Patrick-St. Vincent, 7-0. The Lady Pilots also competed in the Notre Dame tournament in San Jose on October 2, 2009 and placed fourth. The Lady Pilots are having a great season and their improvement is apparent everyday! Junior Elise Gionco has shown to be the fighter of her team at 4th singles as she continues to improve in just her second season!
10/1—Women’s Tennis lost to Albany High 5-2, with Elise Gionco at 4th singles getting a hard fought win 5-7, 6-4, 6-1.
10/1—Women's and Men's Cross Country lost to powerhouse St. Mary’s, but it was another fine performance by the Lady ilots with freshman Kimberly Avalos finishing second to Taylor Lawson, one of the toughest runner in the North Coast. The Varsity Boys were led by Michael Mein who ran a fantastic time on a hot day.
9/30—Women’s Tennis defeated Encinal, 7-0. First singles Jean Eisenman defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-1, and 2nd singles Victoria Robles won 6-0 6-4. First doubles Jada Hodge and Gwen Macewan cruised to victory, 6-1, 6-1
9/29—In Women’s Volleyball, SJND defeated Holy Names at SJND, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21, 25-12. Phoebe Grunt led the team with 13 kills and 1 ace. Mariah Gomez added eight kills, and Geena Serles contributed six kills and two blocks. Casandra Rodriguez added 29 assists. The Pilots are now 8-10 overall and 4-4- in league play.
9/29--The Lady Pilots Tennis Team suffered a close loss to Salesian with a score of 3-4. The wind played a huge factor. Katrina Ong got the lone singles victory, while Jean Eisenman, Victoria Robles and Elise Gionco all suffered tough, close losses. In doubles, Jada Hodge and Gwen Macewan at second doubles and Jeanette Mei and Rianne Bonner at 3rd doubles defeated their opponents, but it wasn’t quite enough for the team victory.
9/24—Women’s Volleyball and Women’s Tennis in the Alameda Sun
9/24--The cross country teams had some great individual performances, despite falling to Piedmont in their first league meet. Freshmen Kimberly Avalos surprised the competition by defeating state-qualifier Jamie Kent to take first in the varsity girl's meet. Newcomers Rebecca Johnson and Renee Barbow also had good runs. In boy's varsity, another freshman, Louis Rodrigues, led the Pilots with Mitchell Mein close behind him. For junior varsity, Nick Ratto led all runners, winning by just two seconds. Sam Levy-Wendt had a great run in his first race.
9/24/09 The Pilots women's tennis team put up a tough fight against the more experienced Piedmont team, falling 7-0.
9/24--The women's volleyball team defeated Encinal High in three sets: 25-20, 25-23, 25-20. Geena Serles led the Pilots with seven kills, and Phoebe Grunt and Mariah Gomez added six each. Khalia Burton Hom contributed 18 assists.
9/21--The Lady Pilots tennis team gained their second 4-3 win over Holy Names High School at Davies Stadium After 3 impressive straight set wins from our top three singles players, Jean Eisenman, Victoria Robles, and Elise Gionco,it was up to one of our doubles teams to pull out the win. After losses at first and second doubles, the third doubles team of sophomores Jeanette Mei and Angela-Villanueva Olsen came up big with a 6-3, 6-3 win. This is the Lady Pilots second win of the season.
9/19--Both the boys and the girls Cross Country team took home medals at the Farmers Invitational. Louis Rodrigues, Cameron Braband and Michael Mein finished 3rd, 4th, and 5th to lead the Pilots to a first place finish in the JV race. Nick Ratto (15th) and Brandon Chai (17th) contributed to the victory. The girls placed 2nd in the Frosh-Soph race, led by Rebecca Johnson who finished 10th. Elizabeth Ahrens was 12th, followed by Renee Barbour (14th), Regina Hurley (24th), Alessandra Zambrano (36th) and Danielle McGuinness (37th).
9/18--St Mary's defeats the Women's Volleyball team 3-0. Phoebe Grunt led the Pilots with five kills.
9/16-- Women's Volleyball is now 2-1 in league play, defeating John Swett: 25-10, 25-8, 25-15. Cassandra Rodriguez led the team with 11 assists and 6 aces. Mariah Gomez added 5 kills and 2 aces, and Geena Serles contributed 5 aces and 3 assists.
9/15-- Women's Golf gets their third win, this time against Albany, 273 to 283. Coach Quintell says, "Let's give them a job well done."
9/10--Women's Golf defeats Albany, 303-309 to raise their record to 2-0

9/8-- SJND Women's Volleyball defeats Kennedy, Richmond in three sets: 27-25, 25-11, 25-17. Geena Serles had five kills and Casandra Rodriguez had nine aces to lead the Pilots.
