SJND has a strong college counseling program that assists students in gaining acceptance to their college of choice. Over the past three years, all but two graduates continued on to college, and one of them joined the U.S. Marine Corps.

College admissions counseling begins with freshman students and continues through all four years at SJND.

According to a 2009 University of California report, 98 percent of SJND students who applied to UC schools were accepted. In addition, graduates enroll at top-ranking universities, well-regarded liberal arts colleges and several of the historically black colleges and universities, including Spelman, Howard and Tuskegee University.
