Saint Joseph Notre Dame is located in the beautiful, tree-lined residential area of Alameda.
In the summer of 2011, the school finished the second phase of the Smart Classrooms project to modernize the classrooms of Marianist Hall, the former boys school for St. Joseph's High School.
When the classroom reconstruction and renovation are complete, all learning spaces at SJND will have been renewed or newly constructed in the past seven years, making it a true 21st century college prep environment for our students.
The Smart Classrooms project began in 2010 with the renovation of the classrooms surrounding the Quad and the reconstruction of Notre Dame Hall. The classrooms were transformed into completely modern wireless learning environments that benefit the way students learn and interact at SJND.
The Smart Classrooms project comes on the heels of the opening in 2007 of the Anthony V. Aiello Science Center, with college-level labs and top scientific equipment. It was completed as a result of the "Let Every Student Soar" Capital Campaign. This effort, endorsed by the parish of St. Joseph, was to improve the music, library, science and gymnasium facilities to enhance the school's programs in music, science and athletics.
The music center and library were completed in 2004. The music center is a wonderful instructional area that complements the award-winning music program, while the expanded library provides print and technology resources for teachers and students.
The Kelly Gymnasium is used for athletics and multipurpose uses such as graduation, assemblies and social gatherings. The Science Center is the site of the Diocesan Science Fair, hosted by SJND, and is a state-of-the-art facility that raises the science programs to a higher plateau.
SJND is located in the heart of Alameda, on the same site where the school was established in 1881 and has a proud tradition of educating students.
