1941 Basketball Team
Members of the 1941 Varsity Basketball Team outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points per game while setting a league record for allowing the least points in the season.They finished the 1941 season with a League Record of 9-1 and an overall record of 14-6. They won the first Varsity League Championship winning their last eight league games in a row.
Coached by Brother Charles Weiss, S.M., this team put St. Joseph’s School and St. Joseph’s Basketball on the map, drawing large crowds. Team members include: Bill Ahern, Ignatius Arceo, Bob Fairwell, Ed Fennelly, Joe Ferguson, William Gottinger, Augie Gouig, Ji Loftus, Bill McInerney, Daniel O’Connell, Martin O’Connell, Joe Ovalle, Paul Peterson, Julien Rice and John Walpole.
