Speech and Debate
Speech and debate is a nationally recognized extracurricular activity that high school students can participate in. Learning and applying styles like spontaneous, extemporaneous, and expository speaking during competitive tournaments builds confidence and comfort to present in public. Students get the opportunity to compete against the best high schools in the area, state, and country and showcase their analytical, critical thinking, and research skills on a bigger stage.

SJND educator and the speech and debate moderator, Nicole Wong has been a member of the Golden Gate Speech and Debate Association (GGSA) for over half her life. She grew up with the GGSA and met life long friends and mentors who have guided and shared with her the passion of the importance of public speaking. First as a student competitor, next as an assistant coach, and for the last ten years head coach. The last five years she has grown the team from two to a team of 13, and her dream is to grow it to 100.
