Our Easy Application Process

It is our goal to provide personalized support on your high school application journey. Please follow the helpful guide below to ensure you have a charted path for you and your student to complete the SJND application.

Step 1: Visit

The best way to find out more about all that SJND has to offer is to experience the feeling of walking on our campus and meeting our diverse student body, faculty, and staff.

Our Visit SJND page offers information about the many opportunities for prospective students and their families to visit and learn more about our school and our deep-rooted sense of community.

Step 2: Apply

Click the “Apply Now” button to submit your application.

Ours is an interactive application, so your student can complete some of it, save their progress, step away, and return to complete it. We are now accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year!

Priority Application Due Date: December 8, 2023   $75 Fee

Final Application Due Date: January 11, 2024  |  $115 Fee

Step 3: Test

As part of the application, you can select a site to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

The test is required of all SJND prospective students by the Diocese of Oakland. You must be an SJND applicant to take the test on our campus, so pre-register several weeks before the January 12 registration deadline. We also offer an HSPT Prep Course on November 4.

Step 4: Recommendations

Seventh and eighth grade transcripts and recommendations from your current school are due on Friday, February 2, 2024.

Recommendation forms may be filled out electronically through our application.  Please forward your requests to your school officials. Students of families coming from a public school that do not use the forms may submit a letter.

Step 5: Interview

Family interviews with one of our faculty members will be scheduled on our campus after you have completed your application.

We will conduct the interviews in mid-January 2024. Interviews last 30 minutes— 15 minutes with the student and 15 minutes with the parents/guardians and student.

Step 6: Decision

Letters of Decision and Financial Aid and Scholarship Awards are emailed in March.

Enrollment contracts must be completed within one week to secure your space in the incoming class.

Admission Information

The Admission Committee considers each applicant for the incoming ninth-grade class based on the student’s desire to attend Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School, High School Placement Test scores, middle school standardized test scores, seventh and eighth-grade report cards (academics, attendance, conduct, effort), school report by principal or designated official, and language and mathematics placement recommendations.

While we offer a comprehensive and rigorous college preparatory curriculum, we have a vast array of academic and counseling support services to enable each student at SJND to thrive and excel. More information may be found on our Counseling page.

Eligibility for tenth and eleventh transfer applicants will be determined by an interview, high school transcript, standardized test scores, letters of recommendation, and our ability to provide a program of studies that will meet graduation requirements. We do not accept twelfth-grade transfers. Please contact us for more information.
