Visual Arts

Visual Arts festival

The department teaches that the arts are fundamental and essential to the education of the whole person, and we use both state and national standards to guide our curriculum.

AP and Honors

Students who wish to take an AP course within the Visual Arts Department will be evaluated for placement based on a combination of the following factors: grade prerequisites, the successful completion prerequisite courses, a portfolio review of artwork to demonstrate sufficient ability to create AP passing level artwork at a pace that will allow for successful completion and submission of a portfolio by the Deadline set by the College Board.

Students who wish to take an Honors Level course within the Visual Arts Department will be evaluated for placement based on a combination of the following factors: grade prerequisites, the successful completion prerequisite courses and a meeting with the teacher to discuss artistic goals and provide a portfolio of artwork that demonstrate that students have mastered intermediate skills in at least one media and are prepared to meet the significantly more demanding workload.
