Club Interact Attends Fall Conference for “Service Above Self.”

Last month, students in SJND’s Interact Club, an international service club, participated in the Fall Leadership Conference. “Interactors” of District 5170 showed their area pride with t-shirts, flags, banners, face paint, and cheers while uniting under one motto and goal: “Service Above Self.”

Each year annual service projects are announced at the Fall Leadership Conference, and Interactors donate their time throughout the year towards these causes. The community project for the school year is “Under One Roof,” focusing on homelessness: breaking the stigma, building homes, and aiding those in need. This year’s international project is called, “Hello, My Name Is…” which focuses on human trafficking and enabling those stuck in the vicious cycle to develop an identity for themselves.

SJND’s Interact members participated in multiple workshops at the conference, building up a foundation of love, community, and communication. Throughout the rest of the year, they will work with their fellow Interactors within the district to fundraise and support these projects, make a real difference, and have fun while doing it.
