On November 29, a team of five FBI special agents from San Francisco’s Evidence Response Team made a special visit to Mr. Desai’s Forensic Science class where students got the inside scoop on what the agents’ jobs entail, as well as a crash course on a few forensics procedures.
During the class, the agents set up stations where the students took fingerprints, tested (fake) blood, and sorted through 80 pounds of dirt for clues. The agents also demonstrated an alternate light source that is used to find blood stains
For students, the visit was an eye-opening experience, giving them a first-hand look at possible careers in the forensic science field, which for the average person, is often only portrayed on the television screen.
“The students really enjoyed it,” explained Mr. Desai. “The guests have expertise in fields I know little about, so their visit really helped broaden the curriculum.”
Thank you to the FBI’s San Francisco Evidence Response Team for their exciting visit!
