No Argument: Speech and Debate Team Earns Honors
SJND Speech and Debate participated in the first Golden Gate Speech League tournament of the year on September 26. Hosted by James Logan High School in Union City, five SJND students competed in Parliamentary and Congressional Debate.
Amidst competing among some of the top ranked teams in the country, SJND held their own and made our school proud. Joseph Picchi '18 and Quinton Owyang '18 competed in the Junior Varsity division; Chris Gerlach '18 and Richard Reid '19 competed in Novice division. James McCloy '19 competed in Congressional Debate and scored a perfect 6 out of 6 on one of his speeches, a great accomplishment for his first tournament!
Additionally, the Speech and Debate team is part of a national honor society. As a result of this tournament, Joseph and Quinn earned the next level of recognition and have Degrees of Honor. Chris and Richard have now earned enough points to be officially admitted into the Honor Society. James, with his stellar performance in Congressional Debate is only 2 points away for earning membership as well. Congratulations team!
