March Madness is in full stride!

SJND women’s basketball pulled out a thrilling 51-46 victory over very strong #3 seed Arcata High on Wednesday March 1 with great performances by sophomore Zhane Duckett ’19 and freshman Sophie Nilsson ’20. They will move on to face defending state champion Cardinal Newman in the NCS finals. The women’s program is currently ranked 18th in the Bay Area by the SF Chronicle and  #3 in the North Coast Section Division 4 rankings, and will be shooting for their  fourth NCS title in the last eight years. The game will be held at Elsie Allen High School in Santa Rosa on Saturday, March 4 at 7:00 pm.

Congratulations to men’s basketball for their solid performance and victory over #5 Stuart Hall (64-40) on Wednesday March 1. The guard trio of Jadé Smith ’17, Darné Duckett ’17 and Cameron Ba ’18 led the way for the Pilots. The men’s team will now travel to Albany High and face #6 Lick-Wilmerding in pursuit of their 16th North Coast Section title in school history. The men’s program is currently ranked #1 in the SF Chronicle and #3 overall in the North Coast Section in all divisions. Should the men’s team win on Saturday, insiders suggest they will be awarded seeding in the Open Division for the State Championship Tournament. The game is Saturday March 4 at 6:00 pm at Albany High School.

Both game tickets will be $11 for Adults and $6 for Students/Seniors.

Go Pilots!
