Sanjana Ravi ’18 Named Kindness Reporter for Lady Gaga’s Born this Way Foundation
Sanjana Ravi ’18, current president of SJND’s Random Acts of Kindness Club, was selected as a Channel Kindness reporter with the Born This Way Foundation.
An exciting new nonprofit founded by Lady Gaga and her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, Born this Way tells stories of kindness, big and small, to shine a light on the good happening in our communities every day. Their work is shaped by the commitment to supporting the wellness of young people and empowering them to create a kinder and braver world.
The Foundation recently launched Channel Kindness, a force of 50 youth reporters between the ages of 16-24, trained to recognize and share the everyday and heroic acts of kindness that shape our communities. The hope is that the narrative of an empowered and compassionate generation will outweigh the divisive and sensationalist stories that can flood our minds. The reporters’ stories will be told on social media, on the Channel Kindness platform and shared by the organization’s partners.
The Foundation organized a convening of all participants in New York, and flew Sanjana out for a weekend of learning and inspiration. Sanjana heard incredible guest speakers including Mr. & Mrs. Germanotta (Lady Gaga's parents), Adejire Bademosi, Meagan McCannna (Federal Affairs Manager of Airbnb), Charlotte Alter (TIMES Reporter), Anne Thompson (former MSNBC producer), Michelle Charlesworth (Reporter and Co-Anchor of WABC-TV), Callie Schweitzer (Managing Editor of Thrive Global). She also toured the set of ABC and met reporters, journalists from New York Times, editors, and many more.
As a Kindness Reporter, Sanjana will peer-edit other reporters’ articles as well as writing her own. You can read her articles on her author profile here:
Keep sharing the kindness and positivity, Sanjana!
