Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School is pleased to announce an official transportation option for students commuting to and from campus for the first time in the school’s 136-year history. Beginning fall 2018, SJND will offer students bus transportation between the San Leandro BART station and the SJND campus in Alameda.
SJND currently serves 442 students from throughout the Bay Area, with 43 percent of current students commuting from locations outside of Alameda; 26 percent of those students commute from Oakland, 15 percent commute from San Leandro and 10 percent commute from other East Bay cities. SJND also draws from the greater Bay Area, including San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Rosa.
“I am so excited that SJND can offer this transportation option for our current and prospective students. I often hear from prospective parents that they love SJND as a school for their son or daughter if transportation were not an issue. We have now alleviated that difficulty for them. The leadership team and I feel it is a ‘game changer’ for our school,” explained Principal Ken Jennings.
SJND recently surveyed 42 current parents living outside of the Alameda area and found that 95 percent expressed interest in an official transportation option.
School officials will release additional details about the San Leandro BART/SJND bus, including schedule, capacity, cost, and how to sign up, in the coming months.
“We look forward to offering this safe, convenient bus option, and continue to explore additional transportation opportunities for our families located throughout the Bay Area,” said Jennings.
