SJND Junior Selected for Prestigious Internship at Children's Hospital of Oakland
SJND Junior Anna Serbin ’17 was selected for the 2016 CHORI (Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute) summer research internship. She was one of 12 students selected from a very competitive pool of over 1000 applicants. Anna is a hard working and driven science student in SJND's Biomedical Sciences program. Anna took the initiative and applied for the CHORI internship program all on her own. During this paid summer internship, Anna will carry out a full-time stem cell research project under the supervision of a mentor at Children's Hospital of Oakland.
The objective of the program is to provide summer research training opportunities for high school students interested in basic science research. It endeavors to stimulate interns’ interest in pursuing a career in biomedical, clinical or stem cell research. Scientific mentors in the program work at CHORI or UC Berkeley Stem Cell Center.
