SJND Theater Director Recognized for Special Contribution to the Arts

Lauren Rosi accepts a Shellie Award for Special Contribution to the Performing Arts.

Congratulations to our own Ms. Lauren Rosi, Director of Theater Programs at Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School, who received recognition for her contribution to the arts in Contra Costa County at the 41st Annual Shellie Awards on January 11. Ms. Rosi, who also serves as Board President of the Town Hall Theatre Company in Lafayette, was one of four individuals honored at the annual awards show for their special contributions to the performing arts.

The Shellie Awards were founded in 1979 in order to recognize outstanding achievement in the performing arts in the Central Contra Costa/Diablo Valley region. Modeled after Broadway’s Tony Awards, Shellies honor over 120 individuals and their work in musical and non-musical theatrical productions that took place between September 1 and August 31.

Madison Gerringer, a student teacher at SJND in 2017, presented Ms. Rosi with her award.

Now in her eighth year at SJND, Ms. Rosi will direct students in this year’s spring musical production, Lucky Stiff, performed February 27-March 1 at the Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts in Oakland. Click here for more information.
