Students Recognized as National AP Scholars
Eric Baskett and Paul Rothhammer-Ruiz were recognized by the College Board as National AP Scholars for earning an average score of at least 4 on eight or more Advanced Placement exams.
Eric, a freshman at Cal who is studying astrophysics, took nine AP exams at SJND and earned the highest possible score of 5 on eight of them and a 4 on the ninth.
Paul, a freshman at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo studying engineering, took eight AP exams last spring at SJND and scored 5 on five of them and 4 on three. Some other highlights from the AP exams results:
- SJND saw an increase in the number of students who received the AP Scholar with Distinction award, the College Board’s honor for students who scored an average of 3.5 or higher on multiple AP exams.This is the second year in a row that SJND has seen an increase in that category.
- The average AP score among the top AP students at SJND increased in 2013 to 3.93 from 3.49.
- The number of students passing the rigorous AP Calculus BC increased over the past two years, and 26 students in the past two years have passed the AP Calculus AB test.
